Program Overview and Cost


Learning a new language in a full Spanish environment for eight weeks is probably one of the best investments in your life as student. And if this is happening in one of the most important universities in Latin America like the UNAM in Mexico is even better.

In order to participate in this program students have to pay and register 3.0 credit hours at Saint Mary’s University for SPAN 3320 Latin American Travel Literature for the Summer I, 2017 session.

The program is a two months summer program during the months of May and June 2017.

The program includes:

  1. Transportation from and to Mexico City International Airport before and after the program.
  2. A Spanish placement test.
  3. Student I.D, textbook, didactic materials and official transcripts at the end of the program.
  4. Welcoming breakfast and guided tour to Taxco and the CEPE Campus in the beautiful city of Taxco de Alarcón.
  5. Eight weeks of classes starting the first week of May ending the last week of June 2017.
  6. Three daily hours of Spanish in the mornings (120 hours).
  7. Two cultural classes on Mexican History and culture in the afternoon (48 hours).
  8. One class on Latin American Travel Literature (40 hours) with visits to Museums, libraries and archives in Mexico city.
  9. Experiential learning opportunity with a local community in Tlamacazapa.
  10. Housing for two months with a Mexican family, in an hotel or at the CEPE Campus residences.
  11. Four guided tours to Mexico City, Xochimilco, Tepoztlán, Grutas de Cacahuamilpa and Old Taxco.
  12. Workshop at the Botanical Gardens in Taxco
  13. Culinary Adventure
  14. Piñatas and Pan muerto workshops.
  15. Farewell party

The total cost of the program is CAD$2.500 (Air Tickets, food and medical insurance are not covered in the cost of the program).
